What they came with
A task said out loud is one sentence. The same task typed into a list app is a project, a date and a label to pick first, so most of it never gets written down at all, and what does survive is scattered across voice memos, a notes app and a text message to yourself. None of those will remind you of anything at the moment it matters. Ping Me treats the spoken sentence as the whole interface: record it, transcribe it, work out whether it is a task, a reminder or a note, file it with a time attached, then read the day back.

Technical detail
Capture survives a bad connection
Audio is written to local device storage and queued there, and the item appears in the list the moment recording stops, with transcription and classification filled in when the upload succeeds. The failure mode is a pending item, never a lost one.
Transcript and classification kept apart
Whisper produces the text, then a separate GPT-4o pass returns structured fields: type, title and a due time. Keeping them as two steps costs an extra round trip, but the transcript is the durable artefact, so a bad classification is re-run from stored text rather than from the audio.
Times resolved against the capture clock
"Tomorrow morning" is resolved using the capture timestamp and the device time zone, and stored as an absolute instant alongside the original phrase. The phrase stays visible so a wrong parse can be spotted and corrected, and crossing a time zone does not move an existing reminder.
Reminders fire from a server queue
Due items are scheduled server-side and pushed through APNs and FCM, so a reminder still arrives if the app has not been opened in days. Each push carries a key derived from the item and its version, so editing a reminder replaces the pending one instead of adding a second.
